One of the longest-running shows in the West End, Wicked in London remains as popular as ever! This Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical has delighted audiences in London for almost two decades – so join Glinda and Elphaba in the magical land of Oz, and find out what really happened before Dorothy blew in.

We’ve put together a timeline of Wicked in London, so you can brush up on the show’s history ahead of its 20th anniversary without enrolling at Shiz University!

Based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire (itself based on the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie and L. Frank Baum’s 1900s book series), Wicked on Broadway officially opened at the Gershwin Theatre, following tryouts in San Francisco. Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, who originated the roles of Glinda and Elphaba, stayed with the show.
