Wicked on Broadway Tickets

Take a peek behind the curtain and discover the untold story of the Witches of Oz in Broadway’s smash-hit musical. Best for age 8+.

Originally opening on Broadway in 2003, the spellbinding musical Wicked still plays to packed out audiences at the Gershwin Theatre over 10 years later. With a fan following across the world and premieres in the West End, Japan, Australia and Brazil, this multiple Tony Award-winning extravaganza takes audiences behind the curtain of The Wizard of Oz’s famously acrimonious witches.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, as well as L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz, Wicked offers a brand-new perspective on the Wicked Witch of the West. Set at the University of Shiz, it tells the story of an unlikely friendship between bubbly blonde Glinda and green outcast Elphaba, whose unlikely friendship is put to the test by an encounter with the Wizard himself. With irresistible songs including “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”, Wicked is the ultimate story of female friendship and the battle against prejudice.

Alyssa Fox stars as Elphaba, opposite McKenzie Kurtz as Glinda. The cast also features Michele Pawk as Madame Morrible, John Dossett as The Wizard, Kimber Elayne Sprawl as Nessarose and Jordan Litz as Fiyero.

Wicked features a book by Winnie Holzman and soaring music and lyrics by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz, whose work includes Pippin and Disney’s Pocahontas. The musical is directed by Joe Mantello (The Last Ship, Assassins), with set design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, and sound design by Tony Meola.

With 10 Tony Award nominations and a film adaptation in the works, Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre continues to bewitch audiences with its stunning, emotional journey through the Land of Oz.

    Tickets FAQ

How much are Wicked Broadway tickets?

Tickets range in price from about $125 to $288, depending on performance time and availability.

What are the most expensive tickets for Wicked on Broadway?

Premium seats are located in Center Orchestra rows C-E, and cost up to $288.

These seats are the perfect distance from the stage to really take in all of the special effects, set design, costumes and choreography that make this musical feel so rich and magical. Theatergoers who have sat in these top-price seats agree, with one reviewer in E101 declaring it “absolutely perfect in every way”.

How can I get cheap tickets for Wicked on Broadway?

The best way to secure cheap tickets is to book a few weeks in advance, when there are more seats available in the lower price bands. Choose a midweek evening such as a Tuesday, when tickets can be up to 16% cheaper than on a Saturday. Some matinees are also a little cheaper than the evening show on the same day, so it is worth comparing before committing to a date and time.

The Gershwin Theatre is very big, so seats at the side and back of the Orchestra offer a more detailed view than many seats in the Circle. These are a little more expensive but good value for money, and the Mezzanine overhang does not disrupt the view. One notable review is from a theatergoer sitting in U36. This seat is almost at the back of the Orchestra, but they gave it a 5-star rating and labelled it “terrific”.
