Stig of the Dump Tickets

Stig of the Dump arrived at London’s Arts Theatre in the summer of 2016 in a quick-paced interactive show full of thrilling storytelling, amazing songs, unique puppetry and dance and loads of chances to join in. Stig of the Dump has been adapted by critically acclaimed writer Mike Kenny and Directed by Luke Sheppard (In The Heights, Matilda RSC) who had previously been nominated for an Olivier Award. This production by London Contemporary Theatre brings their ground-breaking children’s show to London’s West End, following a much-loved tour of the UK. The show follows the title character, Stig, a caveman with shaggy hair and sparkling black eyes who lives in an abandoned chalk pit where people now dispose of rubbish. Barney discoverers the caveman after he tumbles over the edge of the old pit and lands straight through the roof of his secret home. Stig and Barney soon form a close friendship, before embarking on countless adventures and causing some trouble along the way! The biggest problem being that nobody believes that Barney’s new friend is actually real. Stig of the Dump was originally written by Clive King in 1963 and soon became regarded as a classic children’s book, being read by generation after generation of children, as well as spawning multiple TV and film adaptations. This new production marked an exciting and innovative new take on the original charming story. The cast was led by the actor, TV presenter, entertainer and musician Katy Ashworth playing the role of Grandma. Katy is well known and a much-loved face to thousands of children and their families across the world, best known for her work on the Cbeebies TV channel and leading their live shows, as well as her own live show Katy’s Fun Time. Katy will bring her warmth, infectious energy and brilliant connection to children, to help create an unforgettable performance. Barney was played by William Pennington (Cinderella), who had become much loved by families over the UK, when playing the role throughout the UK tour. Stig of the Dump was a treat for all the family, with the show being primarily recommended for children aged 4 and up. Performances began at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End on the 19th July 2016 and ran through summer to 26th August 2016.
