What is the play Till the Stars Come Down about?
Set over the course of one blazingly hot summer day, Till the Stars Come Down follows Sylvia and her larger-than-life, working-class family as she marries Marek, a Polish immigrant who has received a somewhat reluctant welcome to their ex-mining East Midlands town. As vows are exchanged and vodka flows, tensions rise and relationships are pushed to their limits. With her family stuck in the past, what should be the happiest day of Sylvia’s life suddenly opens the door to a future filled with uncertainty.

The original cast was described as “the most sharply observed ensemble [...] you are likely to see all year” by The Times, and several members return including Sinéad Matthews (The Crown, The Antipodes) as Sylvia. She is joined by Julian Kostov as Marek, Dorothy Atkinson as Aunty Carol, Aisling Loftus as Maggie, Lucy Black as Hazel, Adrian Bower as John, Ruby Thompson as Leanne, Philip Whitchurch as Uncle Pete, and Alan Williams as Tony.
Till the Stars Come Down is written by former National Theatre writer-in-residence and Evening Standard Theatre Award-winning playwright and screenwriter Beth Steel (Wonderland, The House of Shades) and directed by Olivier Award winner and former associate director of the National Theatre Bijan Sheibani (A Taste of Honey, Barber Shop Chronicles).
