Step into Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and discover a world of mistaken identities and unexpected romance in the sparkling romantic comedy Twelfth Night. Shakespeare’s surprising tale delights with its story of an unexpected visitor who shakes a community from their languid lives. This is the perfect play to watch as the days get longer and nights get warmer, so book now!

What is Twelfth Night about?

In a cafe lit by moonlight and surrounded by the sea, Olivia is singing a lament to her lost brother. On the choppy waves, a shipwreck is about to throw Viola into her path. Disguised as a boy, Viola is in search of her brother Sebastian, but her arrival triggers much more chaos and confusion than she could ever imagine.

Soon, this faded Mediterranean town and its abandoned festivities are caught up in a web of disguises, tangled love triangles and heartfelt reunions.

Shakespeare’s comedy has long been a firm audience favourite, best known for its powerful monologue, “If music be the food of love, play on”, its play on gender and identity, and the downfall of puritanical Malvolio. With a free spirit and a happy ending, step into the action with tickets to this revival at the Open Air Theatre and you will feel buoyed by the joy and mischief radiating off the stage.

Creative Team

Twelfth Night at Regent’s Park is directed by Owen Horsley, who has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford on shows including Henry VI: Rebellion and Wars of the Roses. The creative team is a perfect marriage, just like the story on stage: with musical supervision by Sam Kenyon and a vibrant set by Basia Bińkowska, you will be transported to the warmth of the Mediterranean shoreline via the greenery of London’s royal park.

This show had a very slow start but once the stories began to roll, I was fully invested. The set was simple but that made the show all that bit better. Also the songs used were very well placed and worked well within a Shakespeare play. Overall this Read more

Some really good performances - Richard Cant as Malvolio etc. Unfortunately, the director has decided to reinterpret Shakespeare to include modern-day ideology
