Cats on Broadway Tickets
Neil Simon Theatre
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famously surreal musical Cats is revived on Broadway, bringing everyone’s favourite junkyard-dwelling felines back to the spotlight. Audiences join Macavity, Grizabella and more as they fight for a spot in the Heaviside Layer at the Neil Simon Theatre.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famously quirky musical Cats heads to the Neil Simon Theatre, reintroducing audiences to Rum Tum Tugger, Skimbleshanks and co. It marks the first Broadway revival of the show since its 1982 debut, with new choreography from Andy Blankenbuehler.
Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, this surreal musical introduces audiences to the fantastical Jellicle Cats on the eve of the Jellicle Ball. On this much-anticipated night their leader, Old Deuteronomy, will pick one member to enter the Heaviside Layer and be reborn. With the promise of ascension in reach, each cat vies for a shot at being chosen by auditioning their talents in a series of song-and-dance numbers. Featuring some of the most recognisable tunes in the musical theater playbook including “Memory” and “Macavity”, Cats is a singularly unique entry in Lloyd Webber’s resume.
Cats on Broadway comprises an ensemble cast including Leona Lewis (Grizabella), Christine Cornish Smith (Bombalurina), Quentin Earl Darrington (Old Deuteronomy) and Tyler Haynes (Rum Tum Tugger).
The musical is composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar) and produced by Cameron Mackintosh. Original director Trevor Nunn is credited in this revival; his other work includes a celebrated tenure as Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Choreographer Gillian Lynne’s work is also incorporated into the production alongside new movement from Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, The Wiz).
Travel down to the junkyard and watch an evening of remarkable feline entertainment. Cats at the Neil Simon Theatre is the perfect night out for families who like their musicals to be eccentric.
