Family Feuds and Festive Chaos - Cult of Love Tickets
Leslye Headland makes her Broadway debut at Hayes Theater with Cult of Love. Previously played at Williamstown Theatre Festival and Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Cult of Love is a brutal comedy that follows the Dahl siblings and their dysfunctional family. The play, set during a tempestuous family Christmas, delves into the complexities of adulthood, religious fervor, and buried grievances, offering audiences a darkly humorous yet poignant look at familial bonds and the chaos that ensues when forced cheer and repressed feelings collide. What is Cult of Love about?
Coming back home for the holidays can’t be that bad, right? The Dahl siblings were raised to be devoted to two things: Jesus and each other. Now grown up, having lived separate lives and having their own life experiences and beliefs, they make their way back home for Christmas. But the facade of holiday carols and family rituals can only hold up for so long. Amidst the forced cheer and flowing alcohol, old wounds resurface, and buried grievances come to light. As the siblings navigate their complex relationships and confront their pasts, the veneer of their devout upbringing begins to crack, revealing deeper, unresolved tensions. What starts as a festive reunion turns into a raw, emotional showdown, exposing the fragile threads that hold their family together.
