About the DR2 Theatre
The DR2 Theatre is an intimate Off-Broadway studio venue that is part of the Daryl Roth Theatre. The main house of the Daryl Roth Theatre is located inside the historic Union Square Savings Bank, while the DR2 is within the building, in a converted banking annex, accessed around the corner at 103 East 15th Street. The building is designed by architect Henry Bacon, who is also known for designing the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Since it opened in 2002, the DR2’s focus has been on risk-taking productions and intimate works, frequently programming solo shows and experimental storytelling, as well as a commitment to introducing theatre to the next generations with the family-friendly DR2 Kids programme. Notable shows have included All the Devils Are Here, performed by Patrick Page, and Everything’s Fine written and performed by Douglas McGrath and directed by Tony-winner John Lithgow. Children's shows that often run at the venue include The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The DR2 Theatre is owned and operated by award-winning theatre producer Daryl Roth.
