The August Wilson is the luckiest theater in New York, as classic musical Funny Girl returns to Broadway for the first time since 1964.

Fanny is a girl from the Lower East Side who dreams of performing on stage. Despite her family’s reservations, she rises from Brooklyn music hall singer to one of the biggest stars on Broadway. Funny Girl charts the highs and lows of her career and personal life, as this comedic star navigates fame, fortune and a tempestuous marriage.

Partly based on the real Fanny Brice, this bittersweet comedy features some of the most iconic songs in musical history, including “Don’t Rain On My Parade” and “People”. It first opened on Broadway in 1964, starring Barbra Streisand, and earned an incredible eight Tony Award nominations.

In director Michael Mayer’s revival, Lea Michele stars as Fanny Brice, opposite Ramin Karimloo (Les Misérables) as husband Nick Arnstein. Further casting includes Tovah Feldshuh and Jared Grimes.

This hilarious and heart-warming story hasn’t graced a Broadway stage in almost 60 years, so make sure you book Funny Girl tickets for this iconic musical’s long-awaited return.

Tickets for this show currently range from about $154 to almost $500 depending on the performance date and availability at the time of booking.

Rows A-E in the Front Mezzanine cost up to $600 and are some of the top seats to view this excellent revival from. If you don't believe us, take it from one theatergoer in , who said, "best seat in the house, and I was told this by an usher when sending me upstairs"! For a classic musical with lots of showstopper songs and big personalities, a view from the Mezzanine lets you take in all of the extravagance in one go.

This is a hugely popular and expensive show, so planning ahead is the best way to get cheap tickets. First, try to be flexible. Midweek performances on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, are up to 20% cheaper compared to weekends. Book in advance if you can as well.

The easiest way to get cheap tickets is to sit at the back or sides of either section, but you can use SeatPlan reviews to work out which is the best value for money. Mezzanine is central and has a clear view, but expect to feel quite far away with faces unclear. You may prefer this to the back of the Orchestra, which has a letterbox effect from the Mezzanine overhang.
