About The Heart of Rock and Roll

It’s 1987, and two twenty-somethings are standing on the cusp of a bright future… but what’s in store for them? Former rock and roller Bobby has put down his guitar and stepped onto the corporate ladder, and his boss Cassandra has spent her life putting the family business first. When they get a second chance to live out their dreams, it takes “The Power of Love” and some help from their friends to decide what they really want to do with their lives.

Featuring Huey Lewis and the News’ biggest hits including “Hip to Be Square”, “Stuck With You” and “Do You Believe in Love”, The Heart of Rock and Roll is a smart, funny and big-hearted musical to get amped about.

Cast and Creative Team

With music by Huey Lewis and the News and a book and story by Jonathan A. Abrams and Tyler Mitchell, this is a show full to the brim with humor, romance and the unbeatable sounds of the 1980s. It is directed by Gordon Greenberg (Guys and Dolls West End; Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at Geffen Playhouse) with choreography by Lorin Latarro (The Who’s Tommy; Waitress; Mrs Doubtfire).

The cast is led by Corey Cott (Bandstand; Newsies) as Bobby and McKenzie Kurtz (Disney’s Frozen; Wicked on Broadway) as Cassandra, with further company members including Josh Breckenridge, F. Michael Haynie, Zoe Jensen, Tamika Lawrence, and Raymond J. Lee.
