About the Linda Gross Theater
Owned and operated by Atlantic Theater Company, the Linda Gross Theater is the larger of the company’s two venues. Located in the former parish of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, which was built in 1854 and renovated in 2012 by architecture firm The Brooklyn Studio, the Linda Gross marries Gothic Revival grandeur with an intimate theatre space. Since the company’s formation in 1985, the Atlantic Theater Company have championed Off-Broadway excellence, platforming work from both established playwrights and amplifying the voice of emerging artists through their creative initiatives for writers and communities, as well as an acting conservatory boasting alumni including Elizabeth Olsen, William H Macy and Jessica Alba.
The small venue, on a stunning tree-lined Chelsea street, has been home to the world premiere of many acclaimed musicals and plays produced by the company, including Spring Awakening with Jonathan Groff and Lea Michelle, The Welkin starring Sandra Oh, The Band’s Visit, and Pulitzer-winning play Between Riverside and Crazy, many of which have earned Obie Awards and gone on to transfer to Broadway in Tony Award-winning stagings. Bold, challenging and inspiring, the Atlantic Theater Company Linda Gross Theater is an Off-Broadway institution producing unmissable theatre.
