Much Ado About Nothing in NYC
Marvel meets Shakespeare in this transfer of Much Ado About Nothing, coming to NYC's The Winter Garden Theatre, in the heart of midtown Manhattan, following a smash-hit London Run. Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell star as sparring lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, in Shakespeare’s ultimate rom-com, directed by Olivier and Tony winner Jamie Lloyd. You won’t want to miss this wickedly witty and beautifully redemptive play, coming to Broadway for a strictly limited run.
About Much Ado About Nothing
War is over, soldiers are returning home - and for Beatrice, this means coming face-to-face with her old rival Benedick. As the pair fall back into their petty squabbles, sharp-tongued insults and quick-witted comebacks, Beatrice’s cousin Hero, and her new beau Claudio conspire to set the pair up - believing their arguing is really a front for deep-seated romantic feelings. But Claudio and Hero’s relationship may not be as perfect as it seems, and when the villainous Don John wields an accusation against Hero, all four lovers are thrown into disarray. Can their relationships weather the storm?
The History of Much Ado About Nothing
Believed to have been written between 1598 and 1599, the play was included in the First Folio, published in1623. One of Shakespeare’s most performed plays, Much Ado About Nothing is the blueprint for the modern rom-com and the ‘enemies to lovers’ trope, as sexual politics and witty wordplay meet in a heartwarming celebration of love and redemption. This production premiered in London in 2025 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to critical acclaim, and now comes to Broadway for a strictly limited run.
