Julia Roberts is an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award, and three-time Golden Globe Award-winning actress who has featured in many films, including Pretty Woman, Notting Hill and My Best Friend’s Wedding. Her role in Small Mouth Sounds will see Julia return to Broadway for the first time in 20 years.
Starring alongside Roberts is a plethora of stage and screen stars, including Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Black Panther), Greta Lee (The Morning Show, Past Lives), Tony Award winner Sarah Paulson (Appropriate, American Horror Story), Isaac Powell (Once On This Island, West Side Story), and Paul Rudd (Grace, This Is 40).
Small Mouth Sounds Creative Team
Small Mouth Sounds is written by award-winning American playwright Bess Wohl. Her debut play, Chinese Friends, premiered at Playwrights Horizons in 2004. Bess’ credits, both in the West End and on Broadway, include Camp Siegfried, Grand Horizons and the multi-award-winning production, Liberation.
Three-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello directs. He directed last season’s Death of a Salesman, as well as credits including Downstate, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Humans.
The rest of the creative team includes Tony Award-winning scenic designer Chloe Lamford, Moliere Award-winning costume designer An D’Huys, two-time Tony Award-winning lighting designer Jack Knowles, and Olivier Award-winning sound designer Tom Gibbons. Music for Small Mouth Sounds is by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw and features movement by JA Collective.
