Return to the ‘70s With Stereophonic Broadway Tickets

A band is on the brink of stardom, but can they handle the pressure? Get a glimpse into the recording studio, where the agony and ecstasy of creation sparks a powder keg, in David Ajmi's Stereophonic. The most acclaimed new play of the season electrified crowds during its sold-out world premiere at Playwrights Horizons, and now it is your chance to be a fly on the wall of this “shattering” (Washington Post) tribute to the heyday of hedonism, creative clashes and epochal genius at the Golden Theatre.

What is Stereophonic about?

Set in a music studio in 1976, this gripping and intimate play follows an up-and-coming rock band as they record a new album. They're standing on the edge of superstardom and the stakes have never been higher. Will the pressure break them apart, or inspire their greatest work yet?

Set in the decade that birthed some of the world's most iconic music acts - Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and more - this “superb immersion in the art of collaborative creation” (Vulture) mixes nostalgia with a breathtaking, razor-sharp portrait of personal and musical struggles in a golden age of new sound.

Stereophonic on Broadway Creative Team

Lauded by The Observer as “an instant classic”, Stereophonic is written by playwright David Adjmi (3C; Elective Affinities) and directed by Daniel Aukin (Bad Jews; Fool for Love), in a production that is “relentlessly compelling” (The New York Times). It features original music by Academy Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Will Butler, who was formerly a member of Arcade Fire and collaborated with Spike Jonze on hit film Her.

The Off-Broadway cast reprises their performances as the show heads to Broadway, including Will Brill as Reg, Andrew R. Butler as Charlie, Juliana Canfield as Holly, Eli Gelb as Grover, Tom Pecinka as Peter, Sarah Pidgeon as Diana, and Chris Stack as Simon.

I really enjoyed this play. The behind-the-scenes look at the relationships between members of a 70s Fleetwood Mac-esque band (and their sound engineers) was executed convincingly and interestingly. The dialogue and direction is beautifully natural Read more

An enthralling piece of theatre. More character focused than plot, but I was entertained for the full 3 hour runtime. Performances were amazing. The music written for this piece is amazing in my opinion.
