The Who’s Tommy Tickets: The Epic Rock Opera Is Back!

Relive the awesome sounds of The Who’s rock opera Tommy as the hit musical returns to Broadway for the very first time! The Tony Award-winning show pushed the boundaries of musical theater 20 years ago when it stormed onto the New York stage, and it’s now back for another round of epic music, thrilling storytelling and shattering vocals.

Featuring anthems “Pinball Wizard”, “I’m Free” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, book now to see this fresh reinvention, direct from Chicago as it plays at the Nederlander Theatre.

What is The Who’s Tommy musical about?

Based on the best-selling 1967 record, The Who’s Tommy is a supersonic take on the band’s concept album.

When Tommy is just four years old, he sees his father kill a man and is traumatized into a state of catatonia. No longer able to speak, see, or hear, Tommy seems to have lost any connection to his family and the outside world. But one day, he stands before a pinball machine and his life is changed forever…

This explosive and daring musical was adapted for the stage by The Who’s Pete Townshend in collaboration with writer Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys). Together, they transformed the best-selling album into a spectacle that took Broadway by storm in 1993 and was nominated for Best Musical at the Tony Awards.

The Amazing Journey Is Back on Broadway

Almost 20 years since it last beckoned audiences into a world of Pinball Wizards and Amazing Journeys, Tommy is now back in New York, direct from a record-breaking Chicago premiere. This groundbreaking new production brings the story into the 21st century, and is “visually and sonically overwhelming [...] Broadway has nothing else like this” (Chicago Tribune) - so get ready to be blown away!

Original director Des McAnuff, the mind behind the iconic Jersey Boys, returns to direct this hotly-anticipated revival, which has a mixture of original songs and tracks from The Who’s back catalog.

I came into this with no previous attachment to the album or earlier productions. I watched the movie a few days prior, which I think was a good move — I would have been a bit confused otherwise. (Although the movie has its own confusions!) My husban Read more

Third time seeing this extraordinary production. There's nothing quite like it. A fusion of rock and stage imagery and movement that transcends words. When people in the audience go nuts near the end, it is an earned communal catharsis.

I went into this show knowing nothing aside from it being about a boy named Tommy who can’t see or hear. I feel like I should’ve read more about it before hand, but I think in a good show, you can understand what’s happening with no prior information Read more
