Tootsie on Broadway Tickets
Dustin Hoffman’s cross-dressing classic Tootsie gets a Broadway makeover directed by eight-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis. A hilarious, crowd-pleasing comedy set to a score of catchy songs, Tootsie the musical opens at the Marquis Theatre this spring.
Following a pre-Broadway engagement at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre in 2018, classic 80s comedy Tootsie gets a musical makeover in New York this year. Based on the Academy Award-winning film starring Dustin Hoffman, Tootsie the musical makes its Broadway debut at the Marquis Theatre.
Tootsie is a comedy musical about Broadway sensation Dorothy Michaels, a talented, outspoken woman who inspires everyone she meets – the perfect musical theater starlet. But hidden behind Dorothy’s feminine exterior is Michael Dorsey, a down-on-his-luck actor who will do anything to get a job, even if it means playing a completely unexpected role. As audiences fall in love with Dorothy and Michael falls in love with the woman of his dreams, he comes to realize that the true challenge of showbusiness is keeping up appearances.
Santino Fontana stars as Dorothy/Michael. He is most recognizable as the voice of villainous Prince Hans in Disney’s animated movie Frozen, and in 2013 received a Tony Award nomination for his role as Prince Charming in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. He is supported by Lilli Cooper (SpongeBob SquarePants The Musical, Wicked) as Julie, and Tony Award nominee Sarah Stiles (Hand to God, Avenue Q) as Sandy.
Tootsie has been adapted for the stage with a book by Robert Horn, whose credits include Dame Edna and Dandy, and music and lyrics by David Yazbek, who won a Tony Award for his work on The Band’s Visit. The show is directed by eight-time Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis (She Loves Me, You Can’t Take It With You) and choreographed by Denis Jones (Honeymoon in Vegas).
With plenty of catchy songs and a well-loved story at its heart, Tootsie at the Marquis Theatre is a sure-fire hit. The musical begins previews on March 29 2019.

Extremely funny show from start to end. Santino Fontana was incredible & I can see why he won the 2019 Tony for Best Actor & the rest of the cast was just as amazing.

A great comedy with heart. Genuine laugh out loud moments. The score isn’t the best and certainly not something you find yourself humming days later but at the same time works. The cast are great and certainly worthy of the Tony award nominations the Read more
