Book now to see its strictly limited season at the Royal Court Theatre this spring.

What is Bluets about?

The play is about the personal love of the colour blue and is a philosophical and unique meditation on lost love, grief and loneliness. Award-winning actors will be bringing the story of depression and desire, pleasure and pain to the stage as audiences are moved by the book to stage adaptation.

The book was written over the span of a few years when Nelson was suffering from her own heartbreak whilst also looking after a friend who had recently been rendered quadriplegic. Playwright Margaret Perry has adapted the award-winning book for its London premiere.

Ben Whishaw in Bluets

Starring Ben Whishaw (Paddington, James Bond, This is Going to Hurt), Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon) and Kayla Meikle (ear for eye) theatregoers are excited for the cast and creatives alone. Directed by award-winner Katie Mitchell (Little Scratch, Anatomy of a Suicide) who has directed over 100 shows across her career, audiences will be in for an unforgettable night of entertainment.

Whishaw isn’t new to the stage, having appeared in over 10 productions across the West End, most recently starring in Waiting for Godot and Norma Jeane Baker of Troy. D’Arcy and Meikle will also be returning to the stage as they join the cast of Bluets at the Royal Court Theatre.
