Location

Located on the famous Shaftesbury Avenue, the Gielgud Theatre is close enough to central locations, allowing you to venture into Soho and Chinatown’s bustling streets that are filled with restaurants, bars and cafes. Piccadilly Circus and two of London’s finest parks, Green Park and St James Park are close by, and Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus give access to world-class shopping. There are great transport links to the Gielgud Theatre, though always check www.tfl.gov.uk before travelling.

Rail

Charing Cross Station is the closest rail station to the Gielgud Theatre, approximately a 15 minute walk away. From the station, turn left and head towards Trafalgar Square. Walk along the square then turn right, as the road heads left, it becomes Pall Mall. Follow this, then take the first right onto Whitcomb Street. Stay on Whitcomb as it turns into Wardour Street at Leicester Square. Keep going until you reach Shaftesbury Avenue, then cross the road and turn left. The theatre is on the corner of Rupert Street, on your right.

Tube

Piccadilly Circus is served by the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines, only a few minutes’ walk from the Gielgud Theatre. When you are underground, choose the exit for Shaftesbury Avenue. Then, walk away from Piccadilly Circus, on the left side of the street. Cross Denman, Great Windmill and Rupert Streets. The theatre is on the left.

Leicester Square tube station is a 7 minute walk away and provides access to the Northern and Piccadilly lines.

Bus

Bus routes 14, 19 and 38 stop on Shaftesbury Avenue. Closer to Piccadilly Circus, bus routes 6, 12, 23, 88, 94, 139, 159 and 453 are available. These stop at different points along Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus.

Car

Q-Park’s Soho and Chinatown car parks are easily reached from the Gielgud Theatre, which participates in the Theatreland scheme. Theatre staff can validate your parking ticket to receive 50% off parking costs. Fees range from £22 for up to 3 hours, and £29.50 for 4 hours.

The theatre is within London’s Congestion Charge Zone, which costs £11.50 between 7am and 6pm. Drop-offs are permitted outside the theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue or Rupert Street.
