Sacrilegious in London
Can money buy morals, or does it bankrupt them? In new play Sacrilegious, a young rabbi goes up against a powerful billionaire when a dodgy donation is offered to his community. Will the congregation decide to take it, no matter where - or who - it came from, or will their conscience win out? Find out with tickets to this provocative comedy, which has its world premiere at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith this year.
What Is New Play Sacrilegious About?
On the holiest day of the year, a young and idealistic rabbi does something incredible: when a multi-million-dollar donation lands at his community’s door, he decides to challenge the congregation’s billionaire president over its provenance.
Soon, a sharp and vicious battle between principles and power erupts, with members of the community taking sides. Loyalties, relationships and reputations are all at risk as the group decides whether they should accept the $30 million, even if their moral conscience takes a hit.
This smart, snappy and provocative new play is one hell of a look at whether money can twist even the holiest of minds - and even features a bit of romance, promiscuity and betrayal.
