After two enchanting years, Anastasia heads into its final Broadway performances this spring. Originally premiering at Connecticut's Hartford Stage, this magical story about a young woman’s quest for family and love won a host of Tony and Outer Critics Circle awards and nominations. Catch it at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Inspired by the 1997 animated film, Anastasia follows Anya, a young Russian woman in search of her true identity. With a dangerous Soviet officer on her tail, Anya forms a rag-tag team with ex-conman Dmitri and the aristocratic Vlad; what follows is a journey of discovery from the fall of the Russian Empire to the bright lights of Paris in the 1920s.

With a triumphant score including “Once Upon a December” and “Journey to the Past”, Anastasia the musical is a soaring tale that has captured audiences’ hearts.

Christy Altomare stars as Anya, having originated the role at Connecticut’s Hartford Stage. Her other credits include Mamma Mia! on Broadway and Spring Awakening on tour. She is joined by Australian singer and songwriter Cody Simpson who makes his Broadway debut as Dmitri, and Penny Fuller (Sunday in the Park with George, The Dinner Party) as the Dowager Countess.

The musical features a book by Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally. His extensive credits include Kiss of the Spider Woman and Ragtime; he was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 1996. Multi-award-winning collaborators Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Once on This Island) provide the score, having previously worked on the 1997 film. The creative team also features director Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, The Killer) and choreographer Peggy Hickey.

A stunning tale of Russia’s last royal family and one woman’s journey of self-discovery, Anastasia at the Broadhurst Theatre takes its final bow in March 2019.

Great show with wonderful cast. Vicki Lewis stoled the show whenever she was on the stage. Wonderful costumes, stage sets and great tricks with the lighting to make it feel like the entire theater was part of a ballroom.
