What Is Katsura Sunshine’s Rakugo About?
The lone storyteller, Katsura Sunshine, dresses in a kimono and kneels on a cushion, using only a fan and a hand towel as his props. In just 90 minutes, audiences will embark on an entertaining evening that combines monologue with traditional storytelling from the world’s only Western Rakugo Master and star of NHK Worldwide. Whilst Katsura Sunshine’s Rakugo bridges the gap between the East and the West, the production is peppered with charm which makes it utterly irresistible not to enjoy!

Katsura Sunshine made his professional debut in Singapore in 2009 after completing his three-year rakugo apprenticeship in 2011 under the great Rakugo Master Katsura Bunshi VI. His work has taken him across the world to countries like Canada, Sri Lanka, and Australia over the years.
