Best Seats Money Can Buy

Premium seats are located in the center of Orchestra Rows A-R (from $296). These offer the best views in the house, giving generous legroom alongside a close-up view of the stunning set, the animal procession and the Tony Award-winning costumes and makeup. You’ll feel like the king of Pride Rock sitting here!

Orchestra Q117– excellent premium seats.

Also Consider: Seats in the front and center of the Mezzanine, Rows A-F (from $234) offer excellent views at 20% less than the top-price tickets.

Best Cheap Seats

The cheapest seats available for The Lion King on Broadway are found in the Mezzanine. These seats are located in the center of Rows G-L, or at the very far sides of Rows BB-F.

Mezzanine L131 – Good overviews for low prices.
  • Mezzanine L131 (from $124). User theatrelover13 said “I expected much worse for the last row of the mezzanine” but that it was a “good seat to see the spectacle of the show”.
  • Mezzanine H132(from $124). While facial expressions may not be as clear from the rear of this area, user broadwayking found the distance from the stage “helps the costumes blend more into the characters and creates a better “illusion”.

Best Seats For Kids

The Lion King is one of the top family shows in NYC, and with these seats, you’ll have “no worries for the rest of your days”. While the Orchestra in this theater is raked, users found that Mezzanine Rows A and B helped ensure that no one obscured the view when attending with children.

Mezzanine A141 – No obstructions for little ones.
  • Mezzanine A141 (from $199). User altagraciagracep attended with her grandchildren and found this seat perfect for their visit, saying “I normally prefer orchestra seats, but with small children, Row A of the mezzanine was definitely the best choice”
  • Orchestra aisle seats (from $181). Kids love the animal procession, which is best viewed from an aisle in the Orchestra level.

Best Seats To See Puppetry

The Lion King’s stunning puppetry is one of its main selling points. The musical features over 200 puppets and draws inspiration from African puppetry, Japanese Bunraku, and Indonesian shadow theater. One of the most spectacular moments in the whole show is the animal procession during “Circle of Life”, when the puppeteers come up the aisles. The best places to see the procession up close are central aisle seats in the Orchestra, or the sides of the Mezzanine AA-FF for a great overview of the procession from a distance.

Mezzanine CC2 – Watch the animal proscession from above.
  • Orchestra R1 (from $224). User doubledreviews loved that this aisle seat offered extra leg-room and said: “you’re also RIGHT NEXT to the elephant during the opening number, which is amazing.”
  • Orchestra B117 (from $296). User jl8 said this seat “is fantastic for the times the actors walk down the aisle”, but that being so close to the front means that some moments are slightly cut off when characters lie down
  • Mezzanine CC2 (from $186). User artp said this was a “Fantastic seat to see the parade of animals” from above, but warned that the view is a little side-on for other moments

Seats to Avoid

Choosing a seat at the theater is highly subjective, as one person’s Pride Rock could be another’s Elephant’s Graveyard. Customers should keep the relatively shallow rake in mind when booking Orchestra seats, particularly if you are on the shorter side, due to a shallow rake, or certain seats to the side of the Mezzanine if you’re taller and require more legroom.

Orchestra K8 – Heads may obstruct your view if you’re on the shorter side.
  • Orchestra K8 (from $224). Sold as a partial view seat, user maise579 found that “someone tall [sat] in front of me so 1/3 of stage left was completely obstructed” – although they still rated this seat 3/5 stars for view otherwise.
  • Mezzanine CC1 (from $186).  An anonymous user found the view to be good, but legroom was a bit cramped here due to being right next to the balcony ledge.
  • Mezzanine L113 (from $186). Similarly, josephm found being in the middle of the row made it difficult to get in and out of the row, and would have preferred to sit on the aisle, stating “the view isn’t that much different.”

Bear in mind that reviews for these seats can vary, and most did earn three stars or more for the view – so it’s worth considering if these may be suitable for you after all!

Hidden Gems

Our users aren’t holding back or hiding these underrated seats!  Users found that seats in Rows BB-GG toward the front and side of the Mezzanine (from $196) offered extra legroom and close-up views of the stage at lower prices.

User caitlinh10 said the Mezzanine DD10 had the “best leg room I’ve ever had in a Broadway theatre!” and that because the Mezzanine overhang goes so far forward in this part of the theatre that they were “super close to the stage” – though it’s worth bearing in mind customers who sat closer to the balcony ledge (in lower numbered seats) did find legroom to be more restricted.
