Located in the heart of Manhattan, New World Stages is one of the buzziest places to experience theatre in New York City. The state-of-the-art five-stage venue opened its doors in 2004 to become a vital platform for long-running off-Broadway smash hits like Avenue Q and Jersey Boys. Over the years, the venue has been the home of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning shows. With the venue now available on SeatPlan, don’t forget that by adding your New World Stages seat review, you can earn Reward points towards money off future theatre tickets!

Get to Know New World Stages

If you’re looking for an intimate theatre experience, New World Stages offers audiences the opportunity to get up close to the action during their visit in a traditional proscenium layout. The capacity of the five stages ranges from 199 to 499, with Stage 1 and Stage 3 being the largest. Whilst you are visiting New World Stages, there’s a place to enjoy a beverage and a gallery to explore as part of your experience.

Who Designed and Built New World Stages?

Originally starting its life as a cinema complex in 1989, the building was transformed into a five off-Broadway stage venue in 2002. Substantial renovations by Dodger Stage Holding Theatricals took place to create a modern, flexible space for commerical plays and entertainment to take place, before it reopened under the name Dodger Stages in 2004. Architects Beyer Blinder Belle, whose work includes the New York Public Library, were involved alongside theatre designers Sachs Morgan and interior designer Klara Zieglerova.

The theatre was renamed New World Stages in 2006 when Stage Entertainment took sole ownership of the venue. However, since 2014, it has been owned and operated by The Shubert Organisation.

What Is Playing at New World Stages?

  • Stage 3 will have you putting your own spelling knowledge to the test with the riotous ride of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on.
  • Stage 4 is where the global smash-hit The Play That Goes Wrong continues to cause unforgettable chaos that will have you laughing out loud!
