Smash Broadway Tickets: The Hit Show on Stage

Theatre fans rejoice, as the long-awaited adaptation of critically acclaimed musical-drama Smash finally comes to Broadway. Since the Emmy, Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated television show finished airing in 2013 fans have been begging for a stage adaptation, and in 2025 their Broadway dreams come true at last, as Smash opens at the Imperial Theatre.

What is Smash on Broadway about?

A musical-comedy about making a musical, Smash is adapted from the hit TV show of the same name. Smash follows a group of theatre professionals in New York as they mount a new Broadway musical - Bombshell, based on the life of Marilyn Monroe - and decide who to cast as their leading lady. Will they choose experienced yet often overlooked ensemble member Ivy, or intriguing but untrained ingenue Karen?

Producers of Smash on Broadway say the adaptation will still centre around the creation of Bombshell, but will otherwise “depart liberally from the series,”- though they promise that fans both old and new will be delighted by this hilarious look into what makes a musical. Exploding with iconic songs and dazzling choreography, it’s sure to be a Smash-hit!

Smash on Broadway Cast and Creative Team

Who better to “be your star” than Broadway icons? Smash stars Tony nominee Robyn Hurder (Moulin Rouge, Chicago) as Ivy, and Caroline Bowman (Sunset Boulevard, Frozen) as Karen, and boasts an impressive cast including two-time Tony Award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas (The Prom, Sunday in the Park with George) and Krysta Rodriguez (Into the Woods, Bye Bye Birdie), who also featured in the TV series, amongst others.

Produced by Stephen Spielberg and Jennifer Hudson and directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Left on Tenth, The Producers), Smash features a mixture of fan-favourite songs from the TV show alongside brand-new tunes composed by the musical team behind the original series, Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Some Like It Hot, Hairspray).
