The show famously parodies Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film, with every character played by a hardworking cast of just four actors.
Creative Team
The 39 Steps is adapted from the film and novel by Patrick Barlow (Noel Coward Theatre: A Christmas Carol), based on an idea by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon. Following its successful Broadway run in 2012, the show helped Barlow become the most-performed playwright in America. Originally directed by Maria Aitken, this new revival is helmed by Nicola Samer, who also directed the show’s 2024 tour.Casting is to be announced, but audiences can expect to enjoy watching four of the hardest-working actors in London on stage, as they whizz through various roles at breakneck speed.

So so funny, the timing was perfect. You could see the actors were enjoying themselves too. The set was very clever. Saw it a few years ago and enjoyed it and today was excellent. A great afternoon out

Had a really enjoyable evening watching this play. Expect a light detective/action story with lots of silly humour, expertly delivered by this cast of just four people (plus a hard working stage crew)!
