The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Tickets

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time started life as a novel written by Mark Haddon, winning the 2003 Whitbread Book of the Year as well as the 2004 Boeke Prize and selling over two million copies, proving its mass appeal for all generations of readers. Simon Stephens’ adaptation of the book, along with Marianne Elliott’s direction, saw Curious Incident receive its London debut at the National Theatre in 2012, transferring to the Apollo in 2013.

Curious Incident follows the story of Christopher Boone, a fifteen year old maths fanatic who sees the world in a very different way compared to his family and peers. It is never outright said, but is implied, that Christopher has Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of Autism. When he discovers Wellington the dog dead in the front garden, instead of being horrified, Christopher decides that he must find the culprit behind the crime. A detective story ensues, which later develops from a murder mystery into an entirely different mystery of its own. Christopher had always been told by his father that his mother had died, but when he finds letters addressed to himself dated after her supposed death, Christopher decides to find out the truth once and for all.

Nominated for eight Olivier awards and winning seven, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is impressing London theatregoers and critics alike. Luke Treadaway’s performance as Christopher Boone is described as ‘unbearably poignant’ by The Telegraph, winning him an Olivier for Best Actor. The production also received an Olivier for Best Set Design, Best Sound Design and Best Lighting Design, proving that it is a spectacle to behold.
