Adapted from the 1988 Spanish film of the same name starring Antonio Banderas, Women on The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is a high octane musical comedy about the complicated love lives of women.
Set in 1980s Madrid, the show focuses Pepa, a voice actor who had been dating her colleague, Ivan. Unfortunately Ivan has dropped off the radar, leading Pepa to assume she has been jilted; a realisation she doesn’t handle all too well. Pepa isn’t the only female spiralling out of control in the story, her friend Candela, Ivan’s ex-wife Lucia and his current squeeze Paulina are also on the brink of a breakdown. To make matters worse, Candela is dating a suspected terrorist!
Things go from bad to worse when Pepa discovers that she is pregnant and learns the real reason Ivan left her. On top of that, Candela seems to think jumping out of the window might be the answer to her own problems. Will these women on the verge of a nervous breakdown survive? Watch as they valiantly attempt to, to hilarious effect.

Lane created the book and Yazbeck wrote the music and lyrics, with stand-out show numbers including ‘Tangled’, ‘Model Behaviour’, ‘On The Verge’ and the incredible ‘Invisible’.
