Giselle Tickets

London Coliseum

Mary Skeaping’s celebrated production of a timeless ballet returns, with a live score by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.

Giselle Tickets: A Haunting Tale of Redemption and Love

Prolific choreographer Mary Skeaping’s production of Giselle returns to the West End this year for a strictly limited season. This striking production is “a Giselle to treasure forever” (The Arts Desk), and will keep you breathlessly compelled as a tale of love from beyond the grave unfolds on stage.

The Giselle Ballet Story

Young peasant girl Giselle is in love with Albrecht, a Duke who has hidden his title and is secretly engaged to another woman. When his betrayal is exposed, Giselle is driven to madness and dies of a broken heart. At her graveside, the Wilis welcome her to their deadly sisterhood, promising revenge on the man who wronged her. But will Giselle’s love protect Albrecht from their vengeance?

The Giselle Ballet Music

Giselle’s wrenching story of unearthly, supernatural passion and vengeance features music by Adolphe Adams. The French composer is known for his ballets, including Le corsaire, and for the Christmas song “O Holy Night”.

In Giselle, his richly atmospheric and lush score is heavily influenced by the 19th century Romantic movement. It creates an emotional rollercoaster that pulls the audience into the depths alongside the tragic heroine. Even more impressive is the fact that he composed it in just three weeks.

English National Ballet Giselle Creative Team

Giselle at the London Coliseum is an enthralling and emotionally charged story, set to Adam’s score performed live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.

Mary Skeaping’s “pitch-perfect” (Whats On Stage), bewitching production features some of the most memorable and ethereal scenes in the genre, and her choreography sweeps audiences from Giselle’s sun-kissed village into a world bathed in moonlight and mystery.

Lovely interpretation of a classic ballet (loved the Mary Skeaping touch of use of hand gestures and mime to aid story). Wonderful set design and costumes, super dancing (sublime from Giselle and Myrtha)
