Echo Tickets

Royal Court Theatre

Discover a play that pushes the boundaries of unrehearsed cold reads in this ambitious, magical and uncompromising production.

Don’t Miss Tickets to Echo

Echo is a play unlike any other that theatregoers have seen before, with a new performer taking to the stage every night at the Royal Court Theatre with no idea of what is being asked of them or any prior knowledge of the script. Each actor's performance will be unrehearsed as they tell the story of the Iranian playwright, Nassim Soleimanpour.

About Echo

Echo (Every Cold Heated Oxygen) is a part of the LIFT festival, which presents bold and relevant culture through thought-provoking performances. Soleimanpour wrote the play as an experiment to confront audiences on what it feels like to be an immigrant in time. The concept is ambitious, yet magical and describes itself as a play where no one travels, yet everybody can be present.

Combining technology with some of the oldest tricks in the book, Echo will be forcing audiences to think this summer. Will the playwright be connected live? Find out during this extremely limited run at the Royal Court Theatre.

About the Echo Cast & Creatives

Award-winning playwright, Nassim Soleimanpour, best known for White Rabbit, Red Rabbit has been surrounded by writing from a young age, with his father being a novelist. His work has been performed worldwide and translated into over 20 languages. The show is directed by Italian-Palestinian director Omar Elerian (Misty, two Palestinians go dogging).

Every night a new actor will take to the stage to thrill audiences in this touring production. Audiences will be introduced to the actor the night of the play as the cold read is performed. Actors appearing include Kathryn Hunter (King Lear), Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs The Post Office), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Meera Syal (Noises Off) and Rebecca Lucy Taylor (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club).

Lots more use of live filming, screens and video. Royal Court just laps that up. Great, vulnerable yet assured participation from Jessica Gunning.

Impressive as the concept is that the performer doesn’t see the script in advance!
