Eddie Izzard: Force Majeure Tickets
Following a worldwide tour, Eddie Izzard brought Force Majeure Reloaded home to London. Famed for his stand-up tours, this long-term residency at the Palace Theatre was a rare treat for fans of Izzard’s classic surrealist comedy.
Since it had been launched three years earlier, Izzard has performed Force Majeure in four different languages and has created sketches that appeal to the global community. The show is a hilarious free-associating frolic through daily observations and life’s big questions, with topics spanning from human sacrifice to the oddities of Olympic dressage. As with all of Izzard’s shows, Force Majeure went beyond what we expect of stand-up and features a distinctive stage design and aesthetic – this time having featured large projection screen and surreal checker-board flooring.
This classic Izzard experience was the most recent in a long line of iconic stand up shows. Stripped ran from 2008-2011 to great critical acclaim following the successes of Sexie (2003), Circle (1999-2000) and Dress to Kill (2008).
As well as his comedy, ‘Britain’s surrealist-in-chief’ (Telegraph) is well-known for his superhuman efforts fundraising for Sport Relief. In 2009, Izzard ran 43 marathons in just 51 days and covered the distance from London to Cardiff, then Belfast to Edinburgh before returning triumphant to Trafalgar Square. His feats were recorded for the BBC documentary series Marathon Man and earned him a special award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
