Getting into the Venue

Access to Gershwin Theatre is via the arcade between 50th and 51st streets and can be reached step-free from street level. A choice of double doors or revolving doors form the entrance to the main lobby. Theatre representatives are available in the lobby to meet guests with disabilities and escort them to designated wheelchair access areas using the elevators or escalators.

There are two areas designed for disabled patrons in the auditorium, both of which have step-free access. One is the rear of the Orchestra section on the third floor and the other is the Mezzanine section on the fourth floor.

Customer Assistance

Wheelchair and companion seating is available in the rear of the Orchestra (on the third floor) as well as in row D of the Mezzanine section (on the fourth floor). Both these locations can be reached without steps; they are served by the main lobby elevator designated for patrons with disabilities. Theatre representatives are on-hand to guide patrons to these seats.

Wheelchair seating should be booked and purchased with the website directly.

There are aisle transfer seats with folding armrests in several rows of the Orchestra and Mezzanine, but please be aware that many of these involve steps. Aisle transfer seats in row E of the Mezzanine are the only ones which are step-free.

One wheelchair accessible restroom is available on the second floor, but there are also restrooms featuring wide stalls in the male and female restrooms on the fourth floor.
