A Christmas Carol Tickets

Old Vic Theatre

Sleigh bells ring, snow falls and Jack Thorne's A Christmas Carol returns to the Old Vic! Directed by Matthew Warchus, this festive treat benefits from immersive staging that puts the audience in the heart of Victorian London.

Matthew Warchus’ festive production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol returns to the Old Vic, to ring in the Christmas season. Jack Thorne’s gorgeous, immersive production will thaw the hearts of even the surliest scrooges. See from 23 November 2019.

Dickens had the now seminal novel published in 1843. He drew inspiration from festive stories by other authors and on his own childhood experiences.

Expect mince pies, music and a marvellously unique staging arrangement, which immerses the audience fully in the yuletide tale. Follow Ebenezer Scrooge as he is given the chance to amend his miserly ways and learns charity. Meet the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future on a wild, frost-bitten ride through Victorian London.

Charles Dickens’ classic book has been adapted by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). The Old Vic’s Artistic Director Matthew Warchus takes care of direction. Set and costumes are by Rob Howell, compositions and arrangements are by Christopher Nightingale, lighting is the work of Hugh Vanstone and sound is by Simon Baker. Casting is courtesy of Jessica Ronane CDG. Lizzi Gee is responsible for movement and Charlie Hughes-D'Aeth is the show’s voice coach.

Money-grubbing Ebenezer Scrooge is played by Paterson Joseph (Green Wing, Neverwhere) whose stage credits include Julius Caesar at the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Emperor Jones at the National Theatre.

Secure your Christmas Present: see A Christmas Carol when it returns to the Old Vic from 23 November 2019.
