Mr Popper's Penguins Tickets

Penguins invaded the Criterion Theatre during Christmas 2016, with the hit musical stage adaptation of Mr Popper’s Penguins having waddled into town! Based on Richard and Florence Atwater’s children’s novel, Mr Popper’s Penguins is the story of Mr Popper, a painter-decorator who opens his doorstep to find a packing crate full of penguins!

Christmas well and truly arrived in 2016 with a new stage adaptation of Antarctic adventure Mr Popper’s Penguins! Having waddled into the Criterion Theatre for a strictly limited festive season, the fun-filled production is based on the Richard and Florence Atwater’s hit children’s novel, which was later made into a 2011 film starring comic actor Jim Carey, grossing $187 million at the box office.

Mr Popper’s Penguins is the magical story of Mr Popper, a painter-decorator who spends his days dreaming of Antarctic adventures in a winter wonderland. One day, Mr Popper opens his door to find a rather large packing crate brimming with penguins! Mayhem and chaos ensues, but Mr and Mrs Popper and their family of performing penguins are happier than they’ve ever been.

Fresh from a run in New York, the Pins and Needles Productions show featured a cast including Russell Morton as Mr Popper and Roxanne Palmer as his wife, Mrs Popper. Further cast members include Lucy Grattan as Greta/Admiral Drake and Toby Manley as Captain Cook/Mr Greenbaum, who both double up as puppeteers!

Mr Popper’s Penguins was directed by Emma Earle, with design by Zoe Squire, puppet design by Nick Barnes, lighting design by Ric Mountjoy and sound design by Jason Barnes. There was also plenty of music packed into the production, with original songs by Luke Bateman and Richy Hughes, including “Chills 4 U” and “Poles Apart”.

Brought to the stage by the producers behind Hetty Feather, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, the dazzling show entertain countless families. Mr Popper’s Penguins played for a limited season at the Criterion Theatre from December 15th to December 31st 2016.

SeatPlan Recommends: The Criterion Theatre is relatively intimate, so good views can be guaranteed from most areas of the theatre. Sit in the Stalls for the most up-close, immersive experience, especially when sitting with young children! A good rake ensures that everyone will be able to see!

Alternatively, some bargains can be found at the very front of the Upper Circle, but be sure to avoid the very rear of each section, as support pillars can sometimes hinder the view.
