    David Wood’s charming adaptation of beloved children’s book The Tiger Who Came to Tea prowls into the West End for a limited run at London’s Lyric Theatre. Nominated for an Olivier Award, this energetic adaptation if packed full of silly songs and dances and is designed to entertain even the tiniest theatregoer.

    Adapted from Judith Kerr’s classic 1968 tale of the greedy tiger, The Tiger Who Came to Tea follows Sophie and Mummy as they encounter a surprising dinner guest. Sophie and Mummy are about to sit down for tea when the doorbell rings. Both wonder who the mystery guest is – it can’t be the milkman or the grocer, and it can’t be Daddy. The very last thing they expect is to greet a hungry tiger at the door! Soon, Sophie and Mummy discover his insatiable appetite as he eats them out of house and home – what will they do when Daddy comes home?

    The West End’s favourite feline returns to the Lyric Theatre, following an acclaimed run in 2012 which was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family. The Tiger Who Came to Tea is adapted by children’s theatre writer, David Wood, whose credits include the popular adaptation of Goodnight Mister Tom, which has delighted audiences at the Duke of York’s Theatre. Judith Kerr’s picture book has sold over 3 million copies worldwide and continues to fly off shelves.

    Running at only 55 minutes, The Tiger Who Came to Tea is designed to engage the attention of very young theatregoers.
