David Wood’s charming adaptation of one of the most popular children’s picture books of all-time hits the West End this festive season. The Tiger Who Came to Tea is an energetic play with songs designed especially for pre-schoolers.
Sophie and her Mother are enjoying a quiet night and are just about to sit down for tea when the doorbell rings. It can’t be the milkman, it can’t be the grocer, and it can’t be Daddy – so who could it be? The last thing that Sophie and her Mother are expecting is a huge hungry tiger on their doorstep! They soon discover his insatiable appetite as he eats all their food and drinks all their water – what if Daddy comes home and there’s nothing for dinner?
The West End’s favourite tiger returns to the Lyric Theatre following an Olivier Award-nominated run in 2012. This popular staging is the work of children’s theatre legend David Wood, whose other acclaimed play for children, Goodnight Mister Tom, will also be playing this Christmas at the Duke of York’s Theatre. At only 55 minutes long, it is packed to the brim with songs, colours, magic, dances and a very very tall tiger! The Tiger Who Came to Tea is the big treat for tiny attention spans and is designed by Wood to keep young children engaged throughout.
