    As part of Moscow’s Sovremennik Theatre season at the Piccadilly Theatre in London, Galina Volchek brought her breathtaking version of Three Sisters to the West End for a strictly limited run.

    The Sovremennik Theatre of Moscow came to the West End for a special season of Russian plays at the Piccadilly Theatre. Their world renowned version of Anton Chekov’s classic play Three Sisters took to the London stage for a limited run of performances between 11th May and 13th May 2017.

    Loved by critics and audiences all over the world and a worthy recipient of a Drama Desk Award, the Sovremennik Theatre’s production of Three Sisters is regarded as a classic version of Anton Chekhov’s legendary tale.

    Having touched audiences all around the world from Moscow to Paris and Berlin to New York, Three Sisters came to the Piccadilly Theatre, allowing you to rediscover the story of Irina, Masha and Olga Prozorov as they search for true substance in the modern world, yearning for a life in the bustling city of Moscow, miles away from their country home. As a succession of guests, family and lovers coming to their home, events begin to unfold which will shame their futures in this beautifully enchanting production.

    Three Sisters formed a part of a triple bill of the Sovremennik Theatre’s most renowned plays to take to the stage at the Piccadilly Theatre, all of which were directed by Artistic Director and founding member of the Sovremennik Theatre, Galina Volchek.

    Performed in Russian with English subtitles, this was a rare opportunity to experience some of Russia’s greatest theatre, featuring over 100 actors, including the acclaimed star of film and theatre Chulpan Khamatova.

    Having run between 3rd May 2017 and 6th May 2017, Three Sisters was a beautiful and powerful play not to be missed.
