A Christmas Carol Tickets
Simon Callow returns to the Arts Theatre with his one-man re-imagining of Charles Dickens’ beloved festive tale, A Christmas Carol. Following the miserly Scrooge, the spooky story sees him visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve, who show him the error of his miserable ways. An unmissable theatrical event, the show plays for a strictly limited season.
A Christmas Carol transports audiences to a Victorian London Christmas Eve, where the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge works the clerks at his financial firm to the bone. With no time or patience for Christmas, families, indulgence or any of the other things that are celebrated at Christmas time, he begrudgingly gives them the day off.
But his dreams that night are haunted by ghosts, who relentlessly escort him through his past, present and future and force him to confront his worst fears. Completely transformed by these visions, he awakes on Christmas morning with a heart full of generosity and love for his fellow people.
Simon Callow is a celebrated actor of stage and screen. As well as numerous, high-profile theatre credits such as Waiting for Godot, Equus and Shakespeare: The Man from Stratford, he has also appeared on screen in The Man Who Invented Christmas, Midsomer Murders and The Phantom of the Opera. Callow has also published several books.
The production is directed and designed by Tom Cairns, whose credits include productions at the National Theatre, Royal Opera House, Old Vic and the Donmar Warehouse.
