A Christmas Carol Tickets

Arts Theatre

After a hugely popular seasons in 2011 and 2012, Simon Callow returned in this much loved production of A Christmas Carol at the Arts Theatre over Christmas 2016.

Following massively popular sell-out runs in both 2011 and 2012, this acclaimed production of A Christmas Carol starring national treasure Simon Callow, returned to The Arts Theatre for a strictly limited season from the 8th December 2016 to the 7th January 2017 for what was one of the most festive shows that Christmas.

Highly influenced by Charles Dickens own performances of his classic tale, Simon Callow and designer-director Tom Cairns had dreamt up an enthralling one-man theatrical spectacular of Christmas story-telling that was beautifully emotional and incredibly heart-warming.

The show was perfect for families, being designed for children aged eight years old and up, making it the perfect Christmas outing that got everyone in the festive spirit.

A Christmas Carol is one of the best loved tales in the world, having been told Christmas after Christmas since it was first published over a hundred and fifty years ago.

The story tells the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, a tight-fisted and grumpy miser who simply hates Christmas. However, when he is haunted by a set of ghosts in his dank and creaking house, he is given the opportunity to see things from a different perspective.

This magical tale was beautifully transformed by Simon Callow who takes us takes us on a journey from cold loneliness to the warming hearth of a Christmas fire in a story that offers a celebration of goodness, a plea for justice and the promise of redemption.

Simon Callow is one of Britain’s most loved actors, with a long history of performing Dicken’s work, from the huge success of The Mystery of Charles Dickens on both West End and Broadway, as well as the acclaimed Dr Marigold & Mr Chops, and even guest starring as Charles Dickens in the hit BBC TV show Doctor Who. Callow has also lent his voice to the character of Scrooge in the 2001 animated film of Christmas Carol: The Movie and even published his own biography of Dickens.

Asides from Dickens, Callow is known for his huge range of work in theatre, TV and film, including starring alongside Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart and Ronald Pickup in Waiting for Godot as well as Emanuel Schikaneder in Amadeus.
