Racky Plews brings a brand new musical to the West End, playing a limited 9-week season at the Arts Theatre. Knights of the Rose is a brand new jukebox musical like no other, featuring classic rock songs by Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, No Doubt and more. Guaranteed to rock your world, this rock ‘n’ roll creation is a medieval tale of epic proportions.

Following the noble Knights of the Rose, who are tasked with defending their people and their own honour, the story infuses the rich writing of literary greats Chaucer, Shakespeare and Marlowe. A tale of love, bloodshed and redemption, the thrilling tale sees the ultimate battle of age and betrayal take place.

Success never lasts long in the world of this story, as the Knights’ valour is threatened by a greater evil at work in their kingdom, which seems set to destroy them once and for all. Can true love triumph over evil? Set against a back catalogue of songs including Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses” and “Always” as well as Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero”, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and more, this high-octane show infuses pop culture with a story evocative of Game of Thrones and Bat Out of Hell.

Creator Jennifer Marsden is qualified barrister from the English countryside with a long-running love of theatre. She began writing over 8 years ago, and this is her first produced performance, by her production company Romance of the Rose Productions.

Casting includes Adam Pearce, Chris Cowley, Oliver Saville, Rebecca Bainbridge, Rebekah Lowings, Matt Thorpe, Ruben Van Keer, Kate Birtill and Bleu Woodward, as well as Ian Gareth Jones, Kelly Hampson and Tom Bales.

Established director Racky Plews directs and choreographs the show, with credits including the West End and national tour of American Idiot and UK tours of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Footloose and Vanities. The production is designed by Diego Pitarch.

A world premiere of a new musical, Knights of the Rose combines an unforgettable playlist with a story that is bound to have audiences on the edge of their seats. Playing a strictly limited season at London’s Arts Theatre, the production runs from 29 June to 26 August 2018, with a press night on 5 July 2018.

I enjoyed the show. Didn’t really get what it was about though. Medieval vs rock music!
