School Of Rock The Musical Tickets

Gillian Lynne Theatre

Following huge success on Broadway in 2016, Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash-hit musical adaptation of School of Rock rocks out at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. Based on the 2003 film of the same name, School of Rock the Musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rock star who transforms a group of prestigious prep school kids into a mind-blowing rock band.

After premiering on Broadway to huge acclaim, the multi-Tony Award nominated School of Rock the Musical transferred to the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End, with tickets going on sale in 2016, earning the 2017 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music, as well as the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical.

Based on the smash-hit 2003 film of the same name, School of Rock the Musical features 14 dazzling new songs by legendary West End composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as a book by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and lyrics by Glenn Slater, who is known for his work as lyricist on Disney’s Tangled and Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies.

School of Rock follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star whose dreams have continued long after his music career has failed to take off. When a prestigious school calls up and offers a whopping sum for a supply teacher, Dewey decides to earn some extra cash by posing as his friend and flatmate Ned Schneebly. Not content with the regular curriculum, Dewey sets out to turn the group of bookish straight-A pupils into guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.

With the Battle of the Bands competition on the horizon, Dewey has the chance to live out his dreams through the new generation of young rock stars - but will he be able to get them there without their parents or the school’s uptight headmistress, Rosalie, finding out?

Original West End cast member David Fynn takes the lead role of Dewey. Florence Andrews (Miss Atomic Bomb, A Little Night Music) plays Rosalie Mullins with Mark Anderson as Ned Schneebly and Michelle Francis as Patty Di Marco. Adult casting also includes Nick Butcher, Cassandra McCowan, Jessica Louise Parkinson, Andy Rees, Cameron Sharp, Jake Sharp, James Smoker, Wendy Somerville, Andrew Spillett, Hannah Stratton and Alex Tomkins.

Additional casting and swings include Paul Kemble, Laura Medforth, Billy Mitchell, Tasha Sheridan and Joshua St. Clair.

Featuring songs from the original movie, as well as over a dozen brilliant new Andrew Lloyd Webber additions, this musical delivers high octane guitar riffs and moving romance in equal measures, with Jack Black himself saying “I laughed. I cried. I rocked!”. Directed by Laurence Connor, the musical features choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Mick Potter.

School of Rock the Musical officially opened on 14 November 2016, and continues to run at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, where it is one of the most popular tickets in the West End.
