Following a hugely successful run at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, hilarious new musical SIX comes to the Arts Theatre London to play limited performances. Prepare to laugh your socks off as the notorious Henry VIII’s wives step out of the history books and into the spotlight to tell their version of events.

Divorced, beheaded… Live!

Following a smash-hit run at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a brand new show comes to the West End’s Arts Theatre to entertain London audiences. SIX is the hilarious musical that sees the history of Henry VIII and his six wives completely spun on its head. Playing a limited four Monday performances, the production is presented by Kenny Wax and Global Musicals.

SIX transforms the ill-fated Tudor queens into pop princesses who are prepared to sing their way out of the history books and into the spotlight. With a hugely funny score that includes catchy tunes such as “Ex Wives”, “Haus of Holbein” and “Don’t Lose Ur Head”, this is a pop concert that remixes over five hundred years of historical heartbreak into one hour of 21st century sass.

The production is conceived and created by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, who met each other at university. In January 2017, the pair ventured into playwrighting, with SIX being their first work together. The team also make up two-thirds of the award-winning theatre company Hot Gay Time Machine, whose show Hot Gay Time Machine also ran at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, before playing a sold-out season at London’s The Other Palace.

Originally performed with the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society, SIX’s Edinburgh Fringe run earned it a nomination for the blog Musical Theatre Review’s inaugural Best Musical Award. The run also attracted the attention of producers Kenny Wax and Global Musicals, who bring an all-new production to the West End for a professional debut.

SIX features a stellar cast, including Renée Lamb (9 to 5) as Catherine of Aragon, Christina Modestou (In the Heights) as Anne Boleyn, Natalie Paris (Sunday in the Park with George) as Jane Seymour, Genesis Lynea (The Wild Party) as Anne of Cleves, Aimie Atkinson (In the Heights) as Katherine Howard and Izuka Hoyle (Working the Musical) as Catherine Parr.

Directed by Lotte Wakeham, the musical features choreography by Cressida Carré, costume design by Roberto Surace, lighting design by Rebecca Fry and sound design by Andy Graham, as well as musical direction by Joe Beighton and orchestrations by Tom Curran.

A hilarious musical comedy that is a guaranteed exciting night out, SIX plays at the Arts Theatre for four performances only. The production plays on Mondays, on 18 December 2017, as well as 8, 15 and 22 January 2018.
